KNOT

18.07.2025 – 16.08.2025,
Opening: Friday, July 18, at 19:00

Two broke medical students must hide a murder before dawn – KNOT is a piece of speculative ethnofiction inspired by one of the most publicized murder cases in Timișoara. The film explores how a series of poor decisions can accelerate toward a tragic outcome, as well as how the local urban imaginary, shaped by mass media and contemporary folklore, comes to define our relationship with everyday space.

KNOT offers a reflection on the role that imaginative processes play in shaping locals’ connection to the city, in an attempt to reconcile the sensationalism of media narratives with the banality of daily life, a convergence that gives rise to a form of local hyperreality, fueled by confusion and fascination.

What emerges is a feverish journey through the spatial memory of a recognizable yet distorted Timișoara, where the boundaries between truth, fiction, and collective projection become blurred, articulating the discrepancies between what we perceive, what we are told, and what we imagine might have been.
