Curator: KILOBASE BUCHAREST
12.03.2022 – 07.05.2022

By referencing those puzzles whose image is shaped by joining the dots, DOT ~ TO ~ DOT is revealed as an exercise of collective imagination about queer realities ~ identities ~ sensibilities through seven artworks / constellations of dots: from the Book of Change – the complex set of instructions developed by Georgiana Dobre & Kjersti Vetterstad and their collaborators to encourage visitors to explore their body and their relationship with other bodies from a queer perspective to GLORY TO … installation by Stefan Botez on intense viscerality of queer desire, from TRIUMF AMIRIA MANIFESTO a river-long ultra-dense text about the recent past and possible futures for what could be a museum of queer culture to the selection of 140 Visual Notes (2012 – 2019) that reveals a myriad of experiences of a queer immigrant, namely artist Alex Bodea, from the series of posters and narrative sound imagined by Apparatus 22 as a humorous homage to unexpected pleasures discovered in in the first year of the pandemic as part of the strategy for survival and healing of trauma to Sebastian Moldovan’s site-specific installation LEND ME YOUR EAR both commentary on infrastructure, art system, but also material and metaphorical support system for a queer playlist by Rekabu or the bright KILOBASE BUCHAREST display that deconstructs a critique related to borrowing many English terms about queerness into Romanian vocabulary.

The works calibrate the visiting experience – between – a feeling of freshness ~ reminiscence ~ of potential that lies in the future, – between – seriousness ~ playfulness ~ the extremely necessary critique in these overwhelming times, – between – vulnerability ~ empowerment ~ permanent upheaval.

*) Destined for the interstitial space of the Kunsthalle Bega, the LONG EYE name is an immaterial artwork created by art collective Apparatus 22 in the BLANK AUGURI series of names and concepts that already envelop several art institutions in Romania, Italy, Belgium, Slovakia. Equally inspired by the utopian Suprainfinit universe created and developed by Apparatus 22 and the peculiarity of this liminal space, LONG EYE refers to a potential suprainfinitic quality of this space to present art that can simultaneously contain countless points and lines of connection between the visible, the invisible and the unspoken.
